1751 is the result of the first ever Country Code retreat in Nufenen, Switzerland.  We spent three days in an old house with thick, wood panelled walls, wrote and practiced new songs, worked on our harmonies and the micro-timing and also learned a lot about studio recording. We used a single Neumann U87 Ai, put it in the middle of the room and placed ourselves around it. This technique goes back to the late 1930’s and turned out to be the most accurate way to record voices and acoustic instruments. We left the sound of the recordings as authentic and natural as it was and gave it only the smallest necessary amount of digital postproduction.
